Harvesting

Harvested all my Garlic scapes last week and made pesto with them - and froze most, so we'll have garlic scape pesto for some time to come. Harvested some 'All Blue' spuds today from a pot - Yum! And blue all the way through after cooking. Had some broad beans last week - more on the way - and courgettes starting production. Lots of strawberries at the school for the students - redcurrants too, and broad beans. And they had their potato feast last week.

Blackcurrants and redcurrants at home too - where will I find time to harvest them all?

I've never seen blue spuds and I don't know what garlic scapes are! But, this morning my smoothie included blackcurrants, raspberries, the last of the strawberries and the first of the cherries from the garden! Yum. The cherry tree overhangs the chicken run but our two chooks don't seem to care for them.

Ger - Got the blue seed spuds from a friend - they are blue the whole way through, even after cooking. They are all eaten, but I'll take a photo if I harvest some more.

The scapes are from hardnecked garlic going to seed - Really yummy in a savoury way.
Your smoothie sounds great - Nice to eat really locally :-)

Hi LessisMore - I haven't made any wind chimes in decades - I made some from porcelain in the late 80s in Oakland when I was part of a ceramics class at Contra Costa College. Thanks for reminding me!
