Vertical Gardening

This beautiful structure is our new courgette trellis. Made from mostly freecycled and free materials, it will allow the squash to grow upwards, out of reach of slugs and bugs, and closer to the sun.

We made a U shape with copper pipe, using the cheaper solder joins, but not actually soldering them. To hild it upright, we hammered some metal rods found out on my brothers farm into the ground - the copper pipes slip over them.

The orange mesh we found at the school - left over from a building project. It's fastened to the copper pipe with cable ties, and in time will be covered with beautiful plants!
